Ben
I’m a doctor, but I couldn’t save my wife. Now I’m just the wounded widower who buries himself in faceless women and his work.
And I’m okay with that.
Then Marcy steps into my office. Sparks fly during her first appointment, so I ask if she’s looking for a friend with benefits.
That’s when things get messy.
I can’t hold onto a new crush without letting go of my past…but my wife deserves more than that.
Marcy
I signed up to be a surrogate because the dating pool is that shallow. Go figure that fate would screw with me as soon as I check in at my first doctor’s appointment.
It’s official. I’ve hit a new rock bottom.
Now I’m stuck drooling over my obstetrician.
When he asks if I’d be interested in casually hooking up, I jump in with both feet. But as I get to know him better, I start to wonder if he’d ever be interested in pursuing something real, or if I’d always be lost in his deceased wife’s shadow.

Meet Kelsie
Kelsie is a sucker for a love story with all the feels. When she’s not chasing words for her next book, you will probably find her reading or, more likely, hanging out with her husband and playing with her three kiddos who love to drive her crazy.
She adores photography, baking, her two dogs, and her cat. And now that she’s actively pursuing her writing dreams, she’s set her sights on someday finding the self-discipline to not binge-watch an entire series on Netflix in one sitting.

5 STAR Review
I have been a fan of Kelsie Rae for a hot minute now. When I saw she was going to be a part of this amazing collection I knew I needed in. And in true Kelsie Rae fashion, she did not disappoint. Ben and Marcy are everything. My heart broke for Ben, but it was honestly time for him to move on and find his happiness again. Marcy was doing one of the most selfless things a woman can do by bringing a baby into the world for those that simply couldn’t. I feel like that’s the reason I connected with this book so much. As some of you know my husband and I tried for years to have a baby, but in the end, gave up hope. We thought about surrogacy but never had the opportunity to explore it more. I love how strong Marcy is. She’s everything I would want and more, not only in a friend but a surrogate. And Ben, while he honestly doesn’t want a relationship, the cards are stacked against him. Marcy proves to be just what he needed.
This book is lower in the drama department but very emotional. I found myself wiping away tears a time or two. I loved the feel of this book. I loved getting lost in the story. Most of all, I loved the environment. I love that this is an Everyday Hero book. I love the man Ben is. I love the woman Marcy is. Most of all I love the story that Kelsie Rae wrote.
